AS Comms - advice for the mock exam

Our Comms mock will be next Thursday (4 Feb), 2.30 - 4.15pm, in our normal teaching room.

 

There will be no break between lessons, but the class will finish once the mock is over (so you can leave early!)

 

• You will be sitting a complete past paper.
• 4 questions - each equally weighted (20 marks per question)
• You should spend 25 minutes on each question (I suggest 5 mins reading the question carefully & planning; 20 minutes writing)

 

Question 1: Culture (drawing on my side of the course)
Question 2: Identity & self-presentation (drawing on Helen's side of the course)
Question 3: Semiotics (my side of the course)
Question 4: Synoptic question drawing on whole course

 

Remember that Question 3 is different in structure to the others. It is divided into 3 or 4 questions. I suggest you go back and look at the Qu 3 we did for practice before Christmas (Dig for Shakespeare), and Leanne's excellent answer, which we went through in class.

 

To prepare for the mock, you need to:

 

• revise key theories (and examples of how you would apply them)
• revise key terminology (including semiotics)
• go through the formal assessments you have done for me & Helen in the first term & remind yourself of your targets

Your homework this week is to revise!
